Bringing Legacy to Life at Calmsley Hill City Farm

BBM Signage Installation – Calmsley Hill City Farm

Client: BBM
Location: Calmsley Hill City Farm, NSW
Project: Permanent Signage Installation
Launch Date: March 2025, as part of BBM’s 100-Year Centenary Celebration

Project Overview:
To mark and celebrate BBM’s centenary, we were engaged to design a permanent signage installation at Calmsley Hill City Farm - a site of historical significance to BBM and the young migrants they supported. The goal was to capture BBM’s long and layered history with the farm and provide a lasting way to educate visitors, students and groups who come through the gates every week.

Our Approach:

We worked closely with BBM to distil a century’s worth of legacy, vision and impact into visually engaging, story-driven panels. Each panel was carefully crafted to deliver bite-sized storytelling, helping people connect with BBM’s mission and understand its long-standing relationship with the land, the people and the broader story of migration and opportunity in Australia.

This project is a standout example of experiential marketing - where storytelling meets space to create a powerful, on-site learning experience. Through thoughtful content, compelling design and high-quality materials, we developed an installation that informs, inspires and invites people to engage more deeply with BBM’s story.

Impact:
The signage was proudly unveiled at BBM’s 100-Year Centenary Celebration event, with former Little Brothers and their families in attendance. For many, it was a powerful and emotional moment - seeing their lived history acknowledged, preserved and shared with the public in a permanent and respectful way.

With stories drawn from BBM’s archives and memories like those of Steven Bennett OAM, the installation brings history to life where it happened. It invites visitors to pause, reflect and engage - turning a simple farm visit into an encounter with the past.

This is the power of place-based storytelling: where words, memory and design meet to honour legacy and spark connection.
